This is excellent. I remember reading some articles on "the stylish academic" and the recommended style would've made me feel like I was wearing a Halloween costume: prim co-ordinates, little skirts, prissy blouses, lots of grey and plum tones... Great on a fine boned quietly spoken intellectual. Terrible on a red-haired punk feminist witch.
Instead I spent over a decade teaching in my own self-devised uniform of black pants, black long sleeved T shirt (nit a band T shirt, sadly) or shirt and a pashmina if it was chilly in the classroom. That and a slick of scarlet lipstick. I saved the good clothes for after work
